 That sounds awesome, I love the sorting hat! We did a surprise Harry Potter bday for a 30th, too! No sorting, but the bday girls got owl invites at their doors (balloons with scrolls attached) and sent to the Magical Shoppe to get supplies. Made a paper sorting hat, the concept was the hat would whisper your house to you, you then announce to the party, and then pick out your own wristband and wand color.
